Combine Testing


Vertical Jump
Equipment Used: Vertec. Solid metal base, standing upright, and colored vanes spaced ½" a part and will rotate when touched for easy measurement.
Technique Allowed: Jumping off of two feet. Athlete will start directly below the unit. When the athlete leaves the ground he will have to leave from directly below the unit and off of two feet. The athlete's best score out of three tries will be recorded on the athlete's Player Profile.
Bench Press
Equipment Used: standard Olympic bench and free weights.
Technique Allowed: Each athlete will have the choice and the opportunity to choose which weight they will lift for a maximum number of repetitions. The athlete will be able to choose from 155lbs or 185lbs. The athlete will only have one opportunity to achieve a maximum number of repetitions. Each repetition will count only if the athlete touches the bar to his chest and then extends his arms completely. The athlete will also have help getting the bar off and back on to the rack. Both weight and number or repetition will be recorded and then presented on the athlete's Player Profile.

Pro Agility Run
Equipment Used: SPARQ XLR8 electronic timer
Technique Allowed: The athlete will start in an athletic, defensive position. Once they move from the sensors to the left the time clock will start. The athlete will run 5-yards and touch the line with one hand. Then the athlete will turn and run 10-yards the other way and touch that line with one hand. Finally, the athlete will turn again and run though the center sensors as quickly as possible. The athlete’s best score out of two tries will be recorded on the athlete’s Player Profile.

40 yd Dash
Equipment Used: SPARQ XLR8 electronic timer
Technique Allowed: Athlete will begin behind the starting line where he will be in a track runner/block stance. Either his right or left hand will be placed on the ground on the touch release button. Once the athlete’s hand is released from the button the timer starts. Then athlete will run in a straight line through the two sets of sensors. The athlete’s best score out of two tries will be recorded on the athlete’s Player Profile.
3 Cone
Equipment: SPARQ XLR8 electronic timer
Technique Allowed: The cones are placed 5 yards apart and placed in an inverted "L" position. The athlete will start in a three/two point stance. He will sprint from Cone A to Cone B and then back to Cone A. Then he will sprint around the outside of Cone B towards the inside of Cone C. The athlete will go around Cone C and back to the outside of Cone B on the way to the finish line at Cone A. Technique Allowed: Each player will get two attempts with the best of the two times being recorded. If the player slips, falls or fails to run the sequence in the proper order they will get to restart without penalty. The player must not knock any of the cones over. Time will begin on first movement and end when the player crosses the finish line. The time will be recorded to the nearest hundredth second.
Anthropometric Measurements
Equipment Used: A calibrated physicians scale will be used to measure the athlete's weight and height.
Technique Allowed: The athlete's weight will be measured while only wearing shorts and his combine T-shirt. His weight will be recorded to within a half pound. The athlete's height will be measured when the athlete is in bare feet. This will be measured to the quarter of an inch. Neck, Chest, Biceps, Thigh, Calf Circumference and body fat measurements will be taken at the widest part of the muscle and recorded in inches to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. Body fat will be taken with a digital lange caliper and recorded to the nearest tenth of a percent.
Broad Jump
The standing broad jump will be measured as the distance (feet/inches) from the back of the starting line to the nearest heel to the start line.
Technique Allowed: The athlete will get two (2) attempts, with the best jump being recorded. The athlete must jump and be able to "Stick" the landing. The player is not allowed to fall backwards, and/or reach back with hand. If the player falls, etc… the player will be allowed to jump again without penalty.
